Exposure to sunAglaonema plants prefer partial shade to full shade. Short periods of sunlight exposure will help enhance the plant’s beautiful variegation. Try few hours of morning or evening sun exposures once in a week. Avoid prolonged period of direct afternoon sunlight, as it might scorch the leaves of the plant.
Light While bright indirect light exposures wok best for Aglaonema plants, they are also low light champions. They are tolerant to low and bright light both. However, a rotation strategy would work best. Avoid a prolonged direct exposure to sun and also avoid a prolonged low light exposure.
SoilA well-draining, loose, and rich potting mix is ideal. A mix of peat, perlite, and sand works well. This ensures that the roots do not sit in water for too long.
WateringDo not over water. Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out. Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Thoroughly water between two watering sessions. Depending on the season, the watering interval must be decided. In rains the interval time should be longer of around 8-10 days. Slow release fertilizes mixed with water in correct proportion, once or twice a year should give good results.
PruningPrune any yellow or damaged leaves at the base of the stem to maintain the plant’s neat appearance. Regularly wiping the leaves with a damp cloth helps keep them dust-free and enhances their shine. Propagate when your plant has outgrown the pot size. Aglaonemas grow well in hydroponic stations as well. Aglaonema Super White can be propagated through stem cuttings or by dividing the root clumps. Spring or early summer is the best time for propagation to ensure healthy growth.
