Description

Name Calathea Rattlesnake Plant
Common names Rattlesnake plant, Calathea lancifolia, Rattlesnake Calathea
Hindi names कैलाथिया लैंसिफ़ोलिया, कैलाथिया रैटलस्नेक
Type Small stemmed, bushy foliage
Growth pattern Perennial
Exposure to sun Similar to other Calathea cultivars, the Rattlesnake plants prefer full shade. Direct as well as partial sunlight exposure should be avoided, which can scorch its delicate leaves. If you see the leaves turning brown and crumpling or shrinking, it could be a sign of improper light or water conditions. Adjust accordingly.
Light  Calathea Rattlesnake plants are also low light champions. They prefer bright indirect light exposures. It’s an ideal plant for rooms with filtered light or shaded areas.
Soil Use a well-draining potting mix that is rich in organic matter. Calathea plants have delicate, small roots, so it’s best to use a fine, loose, and lightweight potting mix. These plants require plenty of moisture, so choose a mix with good water-retaining properties.
Watering Do not let the soil to completely dry out. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your Calathea when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Feed your Calathea monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding during the winter when the plant’s growth slows down.
Pruning Remove any yellow or damaged leaves to keep the plant healthy and looking its best. Regular pruning helps promote new growth and maintains its attractive appearance.
Maintenance level  High
Purifying qualities  Yes

*Note: Since these are live plants, the actual size and condition of the plant may slightly differ from what is shown in the picture, depending on the growth stage of the plant at the time of your order. However, we make the best effort to match the plant that is delivered to you, with the looks shown in the representation, after considering delivery and perishability constraints during the delivery period. The plant comes in 4 inch black grow pot. Aesthetic planters, if any, shown in the picture gallery, are for representation purpose only and can be purchased separately from the website.

PLANT TYPE

Sapling

A sapling is a young plant and will come in a smaller size. Why take a sapling? While it is wonderful to watch your little sapling grow, multiply and produce plantlets, take different color variations and forms till it fully matures, some of the saplings require extra care before it hardens and is full grown. While some others are absolutely hands free. If you are ready to give it all the care and love to admire the comparative growth patterns across plants, we suggest you go for a sapling.

Aged

An aged plant will come in a slightly bigger size than a sapling. While we say 'aged', it only means that once a sapling, is now a grown up and would require comparatively less attention than a sapling. If you have the anxiety about going wrong in the process or just cant wait to see a full grown foliage, we recomend you go for an aged plant. Ah ah !! dont get us wrong, age has no bar for plant, they are evergreen, have infinite growth potential and are renewable.
