The plant is totally an exotic and rare indoor plant, with strikingly unique appearance due to the beautiful dark green maculates (spots/patches) on its lemon green fleshy leaves. The plant is also called leopard lilly for the maculates that look like dark patches on a leopard. It has a perennial growth pattern, proliferates easily and is adaptable and resilient, making it very easy to maintain and care for. The plant yields beautiful and delicate tiny white and green flower spikes along a single strip, generally during the months of September to April. This plant is a great replacement to a living room artificial center piece.

Description
Name | Drimiopsis kirkii |
Common names | Silver Squill, Leopard Lily |
Hindi names | ड्रिमोप्सिस किर्की, सिल्वर स्क्विल, लोपर्ड लिली |
Type | Low growing bushy shrub |
Growth pattern | Perennial |
Exposure to sun | Place them in bright light position or provide dappled light but avoid constant and direct sunlight exposure. While the Drimiopsis plants prefer bright light excessive sun light may scorch its leaves especially during summers. |
Light | Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth. The plant prefers sufficient light which also plays key role in developing the maculates (spots/patches). A prolonged period of low light may cause wilting of leaves. |
Soil | These plants are quite adaptably to soil types, however, use well-draining potting mix. As a result of fast multiplication, the root bulbs tend to overcrowd the pot. Divide the bulbs and repot. |
Pruning | Pinch off the dried leaves. Repot when overcrowded with good number of root bulbs |
Maintenance level | Low |
Air-Purifying qualities | No |
*Note: the decorative planters in the picture gallery are for representation purpose only. The Drimiopsis kirkii plant will come in 4 inch black or brown grow pot. Decorative pots and planters if required must be purchased separately.
