Description

Name Variegated Ficus Elastica
Common names Variegated Rubber Plant, Rubber Bush, Indian Rubber Bush, Indian Rubber Tree, Rubber Fig
Type Tall stemmed. The plant has the ability to grow up to 6-10 feet tall.
Growth pattern Perennial
Exposure to sun The key difference in the normal and variegated varieties is the requirement of exposure to sun. While the non-variegated varieties prefers partial to full shade, the variegated varieties should be exposed to s few hours of sun, to let the beautiful variegated patters develop. Both varieties plants can tolerate a few hours of sun light, preferably morning hours. A prolonged direct sun exposure should be avoided. Keep rotating the plant
Light  Thrives well in bright and indirect light conditions. Do not place them in extremely low light conditions, otherwise the plant will get leggy as it might try to incline towards light. However, placing the under low light condition will require frequent fertigation
Soil Well-drained soil mix.
Watering Do not over water. Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out. Thoroughly water after an interval of 4-5 days depending upon the season. Maintain soil moisture but do not let the soil stand in water or leave it soggy. Overwatering my cause yellowing of leaves. Fertigate monthly, for good results.
Pruning Pruning helps give shape, boosts growth and controls the spread out, given that these plants can grow as tall as to the height of your ceiling. Thus occasional pruning and pinching off the affected leaves should be done regularly.
Maintenance level  Low

PLANT TYPE

Sapling

A sapling is a young plant and will come in a smaller size. Why take a sapling? While it is wonderful to watch your little sapling grow, multiply and produce plantlets, take different color variations and forms till it fully matures, some of the saplings require extra care before it hardens and is full grown. While some others are absolutely hands free. If you are ready to give it all the care and love to admire the comparative growth patterns across plants, we suggest you go for a sapling.

Aged

An aged plant will come in a slightly bigger size than a sapling. While we say 'aged', it only means that once a sapling, is now a grown up and would require comparatively less attention than a sapling. If you have the anxiety about going wrong in the process or just cant wait to see a full grown foliage, we recomend you go for an aged plant. Ah ah !! dont get us wrong, age has no bar for plant, they are evergreen, have infinite growth potential and are renewable.
